Montana Gov. Judy Martz on Tuesday authorized emergency status to help families on the Blackfeet Reservation, which was hit by a heavy snowstorm over the weekend.

Power, electricity and phone service was cut to many tribal homes. Service is slowing being returned.

Some homes were also flooded. Officials are closely monitoring water levels now that the weather has warmed and the snow will be melting.
