THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2002 Violence in rural Mexico over land traditionally held communally by Indian villages has lead to hundreds of deaths over the years. The most recent was an attack on the Zapotec village of Santiago Xochiltepec. The massacre left 26 mostly young men dead and 87 children fatherless. Another dispute has resulted in 423 deaths since the 1940s. Get the Story:
