Trial: Priest abused 'tribal member'

THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2002 A Nebraska priest used alcohol and a shared fascination with Native American culture to lure a former altar boy into sexually abusive situations, the now 23-year-old man testified on Wednesday. Former priest Daniel Herek created an imaginary tribe, called the "Pondering People," the man said in court. Herek called himself "Wolf Hawk," according to the testimony. "We were a tribe of two," the former altar boy said, as reported by The Omaha World-Herald. Various tribal and other "rituals" were used so Herek could see the boy in a state of undress, the man testified. Get the Story:
