Preliminary results of a vote among members of the Western Shoshone Nation of Nevada clear the way for a languishing $128 million-plus land claim settlement.

The money was awarded by the Indian Claims Commission, which said the tribe lost the land because non-Indians moved in. The funds have been garnering interest as the member tribes of the Nation decide what to do.

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) wants the money distributed as long as the tribes agree. A number of tribal activists oppose accepting the money.
