Seizure of tribal cattle protested

THURSDAY, MAY 30, 2002 The Te-Moak Tribe of Nevada is considering legal action against the Bureau of Land Management for seizure of $100,000 worth of tribal cattle. The tribe, which is part of the Western Shoshone Nation, stopped paying grazing fees to the BLM, citing an 1863 treaty. The BLM seized 157 cattle and plans to auction them tomorrow. Get the Story:
