MONDAY, MAY 27, 2002 Curators for the Arizona State Museum are preparing an upcoming exhibit of 360 original paintings by Native artists. The collection of works from the years 1935 to 1990 was donated by Marjorie Pierce Avery and is estimated to be worth $567,000. Featured artists include Pablita Velarde, Robert Montoya and the late Charles Fredric Lovato. "Connections Across Generations: The Avery Collection of American Indian Paintings" will begin its run at the museum this fall. The collection will then go on the road. Get the Story:
