A group of cities in Idaho have dropped a lawsuit seeking to reinstate the position of an Environmental Protection Agency investigator.

Robert Martin, a member of the Makah Nation of Washington, quit last month in protest of the Bush administration's reorganization of his ombudsman duties. Five Idaho cities subsequently filed a lawsuit to put Martin back in the post and keep his position independent.

They withdrew because of lack of funding and lack of support from a local county.
