Nebraska state officials toured the border town of Whiteclay on Thursday.

The visit was intended to show members of the Liquor Control Commission the operations in the small community. Located near the South Dakota border, liquor establishments sell 4 million cans of beer to clientele mostly from the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Sen. Ray Janssen, chairman of the state Legislature General Affairs Committee, also toured the area. The committee oversees alcohol sale issues.
