Democrats in a Connecticut city on Tuesday rejected a challenge to their delegate from author and Congressional hopeful Jeff Benedict.

Benedict lost the Norwich primary by a nearly 2-1 margin, leaving him with three city delegates. Joe Courtney secured the remaining 14.

Benedict plans to stay in the running for the 2nd Congressional district. He says he can still get enough delegates to make it to the state convention.

Benedict has campaigned on a number of issues but gained most attention for his opposition to Indian gaming and federal recognition. He says incumbent Rep. Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) is not doing enough to fight local tribes.
