THURSDAY, MAY 16, 2002

President Bush was informed last fall of a potential airplane hijacking plot organized by terrorist Osama bin Laden.

The information was not specific and did not point to the use of aircraft as weapons themselves, said White House spokesperson Ari Fleischer. No public warning was put out to law enforcement agencies, however.

The admission came in response to a CBS News report which disclosed the information.
