Okla. tribes win temporary respite
THURSDAY, JUNE 20, 2002 Three Oklahoma tribes challenging federal Indian gaming regulators have won the right to continue operating a controversial casino machine on a temporary basis. A federal magistrate issued a temporary restraining order that was requested by the Choctaw, Chickasaw and Cherokee Nations. The order is in place until a full recommendation can be made to a federal judge, a move which could come as early as today. The ruling was made over a casino machine manufactured by MultiMedia Games Inc. (NASDAQ:MGAM). Shares of the Texas company tanked in recent days as the dispute unfolded. Yesterday, the stock was up $2.02 to $21.90, an 8 percent rebound. The ruling, made in the late afternoon, was not announced by the company. Get the Story:
