Wayne Smith already lobbying
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5, 2002

Wayne Smith began lobbying clients days after his firing from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the AP reports.

A group in California fighting a proposed tribal casino was solicited last week at a meeting arranged with a county official. Also present at the meeting was Danny Walsh, the husband of Tracey Buck-Walsh, whom one Congressman has asked the BIA to investigate.

Smith was the deputy assistant secretary for Indian Affairs. His temporary replacement is Aurene Martin, a former aide to Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) and legal counsel to Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb.
