Supreme Court accepts Navajo trust case
MONDAY, JUNE 4, 2002 The Supreme Court today accepted the Bush administration's appeal of the Navajo Nation's $600 million trust fund dispute. And in a not unsurprising move, the Court agreed to hear the case with one affecting the White Mountain Apache Tribe of Arizona. Solicitor General Ted Olson urged both challenges be granted. The Court will examine the extent of the government's fiduciary relationship under a set of decisions known as the Mitchell cases. Oral arguments are expected in November. Related Documents:
