Work on Pueblo leader statue begins
MONDAY, MAY 13, 2002

New Mexico will soon get its second statue in the National Statutory Hall in Washington, D.C.

Jemez Pueblo sculptor officially began work Friday on the state's addition. The statue will represent Popé, a San Juan Pueblo man who organized the 1680 Pueblo Revolt which drove out the Spaniards.
