Calif. tribe under probe moving forward with plans
Wednesday, December 3, 2003

An attorney for a California tribe at the center of controversy says a proposed casino will be good for the community.

Leaders of the Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe Enterprise Rancheria are part of a federal investigation. The FBI won't say why it has subpoenaed four council members.

The four were the target of a recall effort by tribal members. But after the recall was defeated, the leaders disenrolled 70 people, including the former vide-chairman.
