Tribes discuss land-into-trust with Kan. officials
Tuesday, December 2, 2003

Tribal leaders met with top officials in Kansas to discuss disputes over land-into-trust.

Tribes are trying to restore land within their original reservation boundaries. But they say state and local officials slow down the process by opposing their requests.

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is trying to formulate a policy on land-into-trust, an aide said. Officials from the attorney general's office said tribes need to do a better job at communicating their needs.
