Alaska villages try hand at first commercial eel fishery

The first commercial eel fishery in Alaska is paying off for Native fishermen on the Yukon River, where low salmon runs have hurt local villages in recent years.

A company is paying $1.25 a pound for the Artic lampreys. One father and son team caught 1,200 pounds in two hours. The fishery is helping

The Arctic lampreys are being sent to Asian markets. State officials hope demand in Asia and the U.S. will increase.
