The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is co-hosting the 2004 International Children's Conference on the Environment.

The conference, a project of the United Nations, will take place July 19-23 at Connecticut College. About 1,000 children and chaperones from 100 countries are expected to attend, The Providence Journal reported.

The tribe pitched the southeastern Connecticut area to the UN.
