Obituary: Jones, Tulalip Tribes master carver

Jerry Jones, a master carver from the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, died Saturday after being severely injured in a traffic accident. He was 62.

Jones held many roles throughout his life, including baseball player, carpenter, welder and teacher. He carved the canoe tribal members used in the first "Paddle to Seattle" to revive interest in traditional arts and culture.

The tribe will honor Jones at ceremonies tonight and Friday.
