State seeks delay of Narragansett land-into-trust
Tuesday, November 18, 2003

The state of Rhode Island wants a federal judge to delay a land-into-trust decision for the Narragansett Tribe.

U.S. District Judge Mary Lisi said there is no reason to stop the acquisition. The tribe wants to build housing on 31 acres. The land is outside the tribe's settlement area, where state and local laws will not apply.
