Chippewas called 'weaker race' on county's web site

Material portraying the Chippewa people the "weaker race" has been removed from the Gogebic County, Michigan, web site.

A page called "The Evolution of the Indians" depicted Chippewas as being cruel to white people and referred to their culture in demeaning ways. The material came from an old document that was posted online vebatim.

The county made an official apology to the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa for the information after a tribal member complained.
