Friday, November 14, 2003

A Utah woman has been charged with first-degree felony murder and second-degree felony child abuse for the death of a Indian baby in her care.

Jeannette Ilene Gomez, 30, was the foster mother to Casey Paul Barrow, 17 months, and his sister. On October 23, Barrow died from head injuries consistent with violent shaking and blunt force trauma.

Barrow was a member of the Northern Ute Tribe. He and his sister had been placed in a home on the reservation but were later returned to Gomez's care.
