FBI investigating Enterprise Rancheria in Calif.
Thursday, November 13, 2003

The FBI is investigating the Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe of California.

The FBI has served grand jury subpoenas to the chairman and four council members, the tribe's vice president said. The five were the subject of a failed recall in September and are leading an effort to disenroll 70 tribal members.

The investigation was disclosed by vice-chair Robert Edwards, who is being threatened with disenrollment. Edwards has been critical of the other tribal leaders for their actions, including plans to build a casino in Yuba County.

The tribe is based on the Enterprise Rancheria. '
