Neb. tribe wants ownership of fossil recognized
Tuesday, November 11, 2003

The Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska wants its ownership of a dinosaur fossil acknowledged by the University of Nebraska's museum.

The tribe says the plesiosaur fossil, believed to be 70 billion years old, was found on tribal land. But a school paleontologist said it was found on the former reservation.

The tribe doesn't want to take possession of the fossil.
