Mont. judge issues order in Northern Cheyenne case
Wednesday, November 5, 2003

A federal judge in Montana issued a written order on Tuesday directing the Northern Cheyenne Tribe to hand over documents to the Bureau of Indian Affairs and cooperate with a takeover of its child welfare program.

The tribe's self-determination contract expired last week but the tribe has been resisting handing the program back to the BIA. Agency officials say the tribe isn't provided adequate services.
