Seminole Tribe reaches deal with county on hotel tax
Monday, November 3, 2003

The Seminole Tribe of Florida and tourism officials in Broward County have reached a deal over a hotel tax, The South Florida Business Journal reports.

The tribe is building a 15-story hotel and casino on tribal land located within the county. Hard Rock will operate the facility.

As part of the agreement, the tribe has agreed to impose its own 5 percent "bed tax" on Hard Rock. The Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau will get about $100,000 a year through the deal.
