Calif. fires have burned 29,000 acres of tribal land

Fires in southern California have burned 29,000 acres of tribal land.

Of the 18 reservations in San Diego County, 14 have been hit by the Cedar and Paradise fires. The damage has been devastating, with homes, buildings and tribal infrastructure lost.

The San Pasqual Reservation has been one of the hardest hit. The casino has suffered smoke damage and 67 of 68 homes were destroyed.

Tribal land accounts for 10 percent of the area destroyed by the two fires.

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association has created a disaster fund to help the tribes. Donations can be sent to:
