B.C. First Nation drops custody bid for two girls
Monday, October 27, 2003

The Sto:lo First Nation of British Columbia on Friday dropped its bid to take two tribal members from their non-Native foster parents.

The tribe's welfare agency wanted the girls placed in a non-Native home closer to the Sto:lo Reserve. But the half-sisters, aged 14 and 17, didn't want to be removed.

After a hearing before the B.C. Supreme Court, the tribe came to a settlement with the girls' foster family.
