Wyo. tribes want to build prison for state

The Northern Arapaho Tribe and the Eastern Shoshone Tribe want to build a medium security prison for the state.

The tribes are also interested in contracting with the state to supervise ceremonies for Indian inmates. Currently, the Department of Corrections pays an individual contractor $27,000 a year.

Overall, the state spends $4 million on Indians who are on probation, parole or in jail.
