Car dealership to open on Reno-Sparks tribal land
Wednesday, October 22, 2003

A car dealership will open on land owned by the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony in Nevada, drawing complaints about the loss of tax revenue.

The state has a tax compact with the tribe which allows the tribe to keep all revenues. But some Republican state lawmakers are now questioning those agreements. They say the state and local governments will lose $4 million a year to the tribe.

The Mercedes-Benz dealership is set to open on tribal land in December and will employ 40 people.
