BIA recognizes only four Osage Nation members
Monday, October 13, 2003

The Bureau of Indian Affairs only recognizes four members of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma. All of them are over the age of 96.

Due to a unique federal law passed in 1906, membership in the tribe is restricted. Rep. Frank Lucas (R) has introduced a bill to allow the tribe to define its own criteria.
