EPA reviewing grading project on Calif. reservation
Thursday, October 9, 2003

The Environmental Protection Agency has started a review of a grading project being undertaken by the San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians of California.

The tribe is grading a hill to make way for tribal housing. Neighbors complain that the work could lead to mudslides.

Based on a first look, the EPA's director of tribal programs for the region that includes California told The Riverside Press-Enterprise that the tribe appears to be complying with federal laws.
