NCAI critical of ruling on Redskins trademarks
Friday, October 3, 2003

The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) criticized the federal judge's ruling in favor of upholding the Washington Redskins trademarks.

NCAI, the largest inter-tribal organization, has supported the campaign to cancel the marks. President Tex Hall said the ruling favored economics over racial healing.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly overturned a federal board's decision to cancel the marks. Seven Native activists said they are disparaging and bring Native Americans into disrepute.
