Tribal college board seeking boosts in funding

The White House Initiative on Tribal Colleges and Universities is already having success at promoting tribal colleges, the advisory board's president says.

Ron His Horse Is Thunder is president of the Sitting Bull College. He says tribal colleges, due to their rural location and infancy, don't receiving enough funding.

His Horse Is Thunder says the White House board has approached federal agencies to develop three-year tribal college plans. He says the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Education have committed $3 million a year and the Department of Defense has committed $1 million a year.
