First Nations want B.C. to live up to promises
Thursday, September 18, 2003

The British Columbia government held a First Nations Summit with Aboriginal leaders on Wednesday.

First Nations leaders want the provincial government has to live up to the promises the Liberal Party made in this year's Speech from the Throne. Resolution of Aboriginal title and negotiation of treaties are high on the list of Native concerns.

Native leaders are also calling on the province to investigate the deaths of Native men in police custody. In the past three years, five Native men have died in custody.
