Eastern Cherokee police to pay $200K for teen's death

The Eastern Cherokee Tribe's police department has agreed to pay $200,000 to the family of a teenager who was killed during a suicide call, The Asheville Citizen-Times reports.

Police were called to the home of Charles Don Biello, 17. During an apparent scuffle, police shot and killed Biello.

Biello's filed a civil suit against the department, alleging negligence. The department settled without admitting liability and will offer annual suicide awareness training to its officers.
