Editorial: Repatriation rights a historical wrong
Monday, September 8, 2003

Some museums "owe American Indians an apology" for looting and robbing the graves of their ancestors, The Denver Post says in an editorial.

But thanks to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, some of these historical wrongs are being corrected, the paper says. Even though the process is slow-moving, museums and tribes are working together to protect history, the paper says.

"Such cooperation promises to correct past wrongs - and create opportunities for public education and cultural understanding," the paper says.
