Study shows use of hormone suppresses appetite
Thursday, September 4, 2003

Research being published in today's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine found that infusing the digestive system with a hormone reduces appetite.

Two groups of 12 people participated in the study. The group that was given an extra dose of peptide YY 3-36, a hormone produced by the digestive system, ate less than those who weren't. The result was immediate, but it also suppressed appetite for the next 24 hours.
