Pine Ridge residents walk for man shot by police
Friday, July 25, 2003

The family of a man killed in a shootout with police on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota held a Walk for Justice on Thursday.

The family is disputing the events that led to Alex DeSersa's death by Oglala Sioux tribal police July 19. But they are waiting for the result of an investigation before considering what they might do.

Police say DeSersa,22, shot at them when they responded to a call, hitting a 17-year-old girl in the stomach. The girl is still in the hospital.
