Navajo Nation slow to file charges in cattle case
Wednesday, July 23, 2003

The Navajo Nation has yet to file charges against a former council delegate whose reservation home was raided eight months ago, The Farmington Daily Times reports.

J.C. Begay's property has been seized in an apparent dispute over cattle rustling. The tribe threatened to extradite him to the state of New Mexico to face charges there, but that never materialized.

The tribe says it is continuing to gather evidence in the case.
