Native villages concerned about funding changes
Tuesday, July 22, 2003

The federal Denali Commission has extended the public comment period on proposed changes to its spending policy.

Alaska Native leaders are worried that the policy will negatively impact construction dollars they receive. They want more time to review the proposal, which sets out different factors for doling out federal funds.

The co-chairman of the commission wants to explain the policy at the annual convention of the Alaska Federation of Natives, held in October.
