Tribe donates to Bustamante recall campaign

The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has donated $321,000 to Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante (D), The San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The tribe has been a financial supporter of Bustamante, who has promoted Indian gaming and sovereignty interests.

Bustamante is running to replace Gov. Gray Davis (D), who has received significant tribal campaign donations in the past.

The recall election is October 7.
