Jodi Rave Lee: Mother's teachings live on
Monday, August 11, 2003

"All friends and associates are invited to attend a memorial service for Mom next June during the annual powwow in Twin Buttes, N.D.

I expect this to be the last column I write until then. This month, I will leave my desk at the Lincoln Journal Star to prepare for a nearly yearlong leave of absence. I'll be spending that time at Harvard University as a Nieman Fellow.

Before my mom's death, so many people told me the journalism fellowship would be one of the best years of my life.

Now, it's hard to imagine much solace in studying economic development and tribal, state and federal government jurisdictional relationships.

But even in my mother's death, she has taught me to be strong."
