Tribes not told about highway construction project
Thursday, July 31, 2003

Work on a highway widening project on the Arkansas state line has been halted due to the discovery of ancient remains.

The Osage Tribe and the Caddo Tribe weren't told about the work. The Federal Highway Administration says this was an oversight.

The tribes are now being consulted to handle recovery of the remains. Other artifacts were also found.
