Narragansett lobbyist enjoys high-profile role

You may not have heard of him but among Rhode Island political circles, Guy Dufault is well known. He's the Narragansett Tribe's lobbyist/press consultant who has one issue on his mine: Casino. A former state Democratic party chair, Dufault gets paid $5,000 a month, plus $200 an hour for media relations. Last week's raid of the tribe's smoke shop has given the tribe more ammunition, he says. "It allowed us to talk about the injustice that once again has been done to the tribe," he says, noting that he likes fighting for the "underdog." "I do cause work," he says. "I only take on clients I have a passion for."
