SGU to expand

MISSION— Sinte Gleska University is continuing to grow both academically and physically.

SGU is hoping that an expansion to the current Student Services Building on the Antelope Lake Campus to house the University’s Education Department and the construction of a new constructing a new Student Union on the Antelope Lakota Campus will help to better serve the needs of its students.

“Those two new facilities will be of great value to the institution. Sinte Gleska University continues to develop and grow in its addressing the mandates of its founders as led by Stanley Red Bird, Sr. to strengthen the Sicangu Oyate.

The expansion to the university’s Education Department will add three new offices for Education Department faculty as well as three new classrooms, plus additional areas for workspace and storage. The new Student Union will be located between the Administration Building and the Student Services Building.

According to a press release from the university the new Student Union will include a kitchen/dining area, a wellness room, a study/tutoring area and an area for recreation. The projects are expected to be completed by the Fall of 2016.
