The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma sued two former leaders to recover $760,000 in funds. The lawsuit in federal court accuses former governor Janice Boswell and former lieutenant governor Leslie Wandrie-Harjo embezzled the money. But Wandrie-Harjo said it's sitting untouched in a bank that also was named as a defendant. “I didn’t steal anything. It’s still in a cashiers check in Ada,” Wandrie-Harjo told The Oklahoman. “That money belongs to the people.” The money came from the tribe's trust accounts, according to the complaint. The tribe has a lawsuit pending against the federal government in another court for the same funds but an attorney said going after Wandrie-Harjo was probably an easier option. Get the Story:
