Misty Upham, a member of the Blackfeet Nation who starred in major Hollywood pictures, was found dead in Washington Thursday. The actress was 32.

Upham was found near the White River in Auburn. She had gone missing from a relative's home on the Muckleshoot Reservation earlier this month but her family said local police did little to help find her.

"The family wants people to know it does not believe the Auburn Police Department did enough to find her. They feel the police department failed to respond in a timely manner,” Tracy Rector, a spokesperson for the family, told Native News Online.

Upham won accolades for her role as a housekeeper in the critically acclaimed August: Osage County. The film was set on the Osage Nation in Oklahoma.

"So so sad to hear this news — all our thoughts are with her family and with her beautiful spirit," actress Meryl Streep, who also starred in the film, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Upham was also known for starring in Frozen River and Django Unchained. She most recently appeared in Cake and Crawlspace, both of which are due to be released next year.
