Son of late Agua Caliente Band chairman wins council election

Reid Milanovich is following in the footsteps of his father, Richard Milanovich, the late former chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians in California.

Reid Milanovich, 30, won election to the tribal council in March. He started his one-year term on April 1.

“He was a great teacher," the younger Milanovich told The Palm Springs Desert Sun of his father, who died in March 2012 after leading his tribe for 28 years. "He was very good at leading by example, and I loved watching him. I hope to be half the man he was.”

Reid Milanovich is the youngest members of the council, the paper said.
