Keith Harper set for confirmation hearing to ambassador post

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has scheduled a confirmation hearing for Keith Harper, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, for an ambassador-rank post.

In June, President Barack Obama nominated Harper as the United States Representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council. If confirmed by the Senate, Harper will help address human rights issues around the world.

The confirmation hearing takes place next Tuesday, September 24, at 2:30pm in Room 419 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building. It will be webcast.
